Review
Violet Lee is a seventeen year old girl from London who is subsequently kidnapped in an act of unexpected mercy by a group of vampires after witnessing the mass-murder of a group of men at the hands of her kidnappers. Violet soon finds out that her captors are non other than the Varns - Vampire Royalty - Here, Violet has to endure several months of being held against her will while battling with her feelings for Kaspar, the heir to the Vamperic Throne, and the difficult choice she must make: Allow them to turn her into a vampire, or be imprisoned at Varnley indefinitely.
I really enjoyed this book and I found it very difficult to put it down. The story is told through both Violet and Kaspar's perspective which I found worked really well with the book. Although, I think Kaspar's parts could have been a bit longer or just have put a few more of his chapters in there just so I could find out a little bit more about him. I have a love/hate relationship with Kaspar. Violet often refers to him as simply 'jerk' but as the story evolves you see glimpses of a loveable character under his steel armour that has been sealed for a very long time. There were some eye-rolling moments but for the most part it was a great read. Interesting characters and story line that draws you in begging to find out more. The only reason I didn't give this book 5/5 stars was for the simple reason of on the cover it states: "The sexiest romance you will read this year". While there is romance in this book I don't think there is enough to warrant the title and it definitely isn't the "sexiest" in my opinion. I will be getting my hands on and read the second book titled Autumn Rose that is set for release January 2014 (Amazon).
